Universal Panacea

Lance Burri has discovered yet another societal ailment that will allegedly succumb to the miraculous healing power of government-run health care: medical law suits. It’s obviously true that its advocates believe “universal health care” will cure an improbably high number of society’s ills, but this is a new one on me.

Burri quotes a publication called the Tomah Journal, whose editors apparently believe that malpractice suits will “evaporate” if a single-payer health care system is imposed by our masters in Washington. It’s difficult to believe that anyone, even in the socialized medicine crowd, could be this naïve, but here’s the piece.

It is, of course, the patient’s ability to seek compensation for incompetent care that will actually “evaporate” under such a system.
