Canadian-Style Care for California?

A Canadian think tank has warned California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to avoid Canadian-style health care like the plague:

Canada is currently witnessing the failure of its own single-payer health insurance system. Faced with this example, why would Americans want to adopt such a system for themselves?

The “Governator” is visiting Canada for three days, but it is unlikely that he will be shown their long waiting lists or talk to any patients whose care has been postponed until their conditions have dramatically worsened. Nor is it likely that he will be shown data on rising costs which, as I discuss in this post, show the following:

The Canadian system is not financially sustainable in the long run … because public spending on health care is growing so much faster than public revenue, every one of Canada’s 10 provinces is on a path to fiscal distress.

Dare we hope that Schwarzenegger’s aides will even show him this report?

The Frasier Institute is a right wing think tank famous for praising all things U.S. They are the wingnut branch of Canadian politics. Their primary agenda is tax cuts ( we’ve seen how thats worked out for the U.S.) and capital gains tax cuts. It is not an unbiased source nor objective.
