Your health care isn't "free," Jay. You Canadians are taxed so heavily that it takes six months to pay your tax bill. Wake up, dude, and read the following link:

As a Canadian, i am more than happy that I don't have to go through the American system. SiCko is a movie, a docutainment if you will. They look at the extremes at both ends of the spectrum. I've never had to pay for any surgical procedures that I have had. Gashed throat, stitched up head no fee. Got in right away. It's an emergency. Friend needs to get surgury on a torn acl sustained earlier this year. He has to wait, non-emergency. But free. In the end I'm happy with what I have. No hassles.

Okay it's stupid that some of you think libertarians are extremist. They're actually not on a "wing."
Libertarians are towards the right, but in a category of less government involvement.
Kinda like anarchists, but not so stupid and wannabe-anti-conformist.
They're basically anti-government but with morals. If that makes any sense to any of you.

The US has amazing hospitals. The problem is, only the super-rich have full access to their services.

Whereas, in America, most poor people just plain don’t have access to healthcare at all.

Kim, it simply isn’t true that poor people in this country don’t have access to health care. A typical American hospital provides about 5% of its care free. In my hospital, that means we give away about $10 million a year to indigent patients. We also treat Medicaid and SCHIP patients, who are by definition poor, and lose money on every one of them.

There are clearly huge, giant flaws in the American insurance system.

It’s true that the system needs to be reformed. The question is how best to do it. The objective data show that government-run health care is inefficient and, in many cases, cruel. I believe that the opposite route should be taken. If we deregulate and fix the perverse incentives built in to the tax code, we will accomplish much more than if we empower government to run the system.

So, in Britian they have a flawed system where the poor do not have access to as good of care as the rich (since I'm gonna guess it takes a decent chunk of change to pay out-of-pocket for private British healthcare). Whereas, in America, most poor people just plain don't have access to healthcare at all. Still sounds better in Britain.
Do you really think that changing the payment system for healthcare in the United States is going to cause more infections? That the doctors, the same doctors that practice now, will somehow be worse once the government is writing them checks? Just because there are flaws in a system doesn't mean the whole idea is bunk. There are clearly huge, giant flaws in the american insurance system, and this is acknowledged by ALL, but clearly there are enough people (like those who post here) who still think it is worth it, just needs to be fixed. Are americans incapable of examining a policy on its merits, rather than trying to find a way that France or Britain or Canada is worse?

Ha pdl, Helen Evans is not to be trusted but Michael Moore is? This guy's been caught lying, distorting facts and manufacturing false impressions every time he puts out a movie so he can paint the picture the way he wants you to see it. So Helen Evans so-called assassination piece as you call it would look more like an attempted "hugging" next to how Moore treats his subjects. I'm amazed that people still afford the guy any credibility with his track record being what it is. I guess as long as he's saying stuff people want to hear it doesn't really matter if it's true or not.

In your world Libertarians might not be right-wing but in the real world they are considered both right-wing and extremists.

As long as you remain too lazy to learn basic political nomenclature, you are going to have difficulty getting the grown-ups to take you seriously.

If you would like to have an actual clue about Libertarianism, here's a basic description that even you will be able to grasp.
