WellCare Conspiracy Theorists

A couple of days ago, I wondered how much time it would take for the usual suspects to start using the WellCare investigation as a general indictment of “the health care industrial complex.”

Well, it turns out that they’re going for a “twofer” on this one. Wellcare, it seems, is not merely another blood-sucking insurance company. It’s also a nest of Bushite crony capitalists. The Carpetbagger Report breathlessly reveals:

WellCare CEO Todd Farha and Finance Director David Hart both raised over $100,000 in donations for Bush’s presidential campaign, and were the two biggest fundraisers for Bush in Tampa.

Gasp! You mean these people have been participating in the political process? My God! Who do they think they are? Citizens? But wait, it gets worse. According to Liberal Values, this means Wellcare is on the payroll:

It is also interesting that many Bush-apologists often criticize government programs in general but ignore this flagrant case of using a government program as payback to contributors.

Like all conspiracy nuts, these people ignore any evidence that doesn’t support their paranoid vision. As InsureBlog points out, WellCare has close connections to Lefty wackjob, George Soros. Not much interest in that datum, however.

Also, if it’s just another branch office of BushCo, why is WellCare being so vigorously investigated by the Bush justice department and SEC? All part of cleverly concocted smoke screen, no doubt.
