On some of the plans I represent it would be $50/month. On other plans it could be deductible and co-insurance. Even in that case, if the paid their deductible and hit their OOP max, on the high side $6000 total, a chance at life is a more palatable option than a slow painful death or suicide. But that choice is up to the patient or their doctor, not a government bureocracy, at least in the US.

David, out of interest how much in co-pay would a year's supply of sutent cost you on your plan, and how much would it cost someone on one of those cut-price plans you are extolling the virtues of? It would be nice to see some facts for once.

I've heard of covert rationing by insurance companies, the government, and even doctors, but "overt patient rationing of healthcare by suicide" is a new one. Stamping out costly fraud and abuse is so time-consuming and creates so many pesky "bad feelings" - this is ideal - someone form a committee, all quick-like!

This happens here as well, people denied a procedure or drug.Insurance companies also refuse coverage for preexisting conditions.Thats if you can even get insurance with your condition. So this just seems to be alot of smoke to try and justify your stand on universal health care, you know the health care we provide goverment and political employees.

There are so many ways the liberals murder you.

Outside of this poor soul, the more usual technique is euthanasia by queue is on the passive-aggressive endless waiting lists of Canada and the UK. Granny dies before her hip replacement is scheduled years hence.

Meanwhile the ruling class apparachniks get Teddy Kennedy luxury care, which they deny the peons.
