@Greg

Uh, you DO realize that people who work for non profit organizations typically are paid salaries, right? Your argument that Grace works for free is completely off point. If you want to be snarky, and try to zing her, you should tell her that her employer should switch to a non-profit business model.

Nice try, but you fail. Horribly.

"Cancer should not be a profit making opportunity for anyone."

Well, whatever job you hold, you must be providing a service to someone else. YOU should not be "making money" at what you do. I submit that making profit for yourself it evil. Evil! Give up your profit, you vile creature!!!

BY the way, one of my friends was here as graduate students, the othe working for a small company who had no health insurance option. My point is that we are the ONLY western country that is so unchristian as to not take care of our sick. Cancer should not be a profit making opportunity for anyone. As a matter of fact if you were in Europe as a student or tourist you would definitely be able to use their system if needed. Your concern about illegal entry is interesting, AND telling. Your ignorance how the European systems work is even more evident of your lack of understanding and knowledge how well their systems do work. PS I was treated in Europe while on vacation and was surprised to find I owed nothing!

@Grace, who are your European friends and were they here legally, were they students? All of my European friends were sent here on employment contracts with good companies who included their health care in the benefits package. If I was working in Europe illegally or as a student I wouldn't get to use their "Free" national care anyways. So what is your point exactly?

Since I have European friends who use to work in the states, until they got sick, I KNOW where they go for health care. Back Home! They can not afford to get care here!
No one disputes that we have excellent doctors and technology, best on the planet! The WHO rares that with the ability for the majority to get the heqlthcare they need AND how the health care contributes to the overall heath of the population. We rank at the bottom in both those instances.

Tobin, do you have a point? Nothing in your comment even begins to refute Catron's post.

This claim is absurd. Those two health care systems cover everyone in their countries, whereas our has 45 million uninsured. Of course Kennedy is going to get excellent care here. So can anyone with money and a good health care plan. You show your ignorance by referring to the French as "frogs."
