Last week I did a post on the patient-dumping scheme designed by Michelle Obama for the University of Chicago Medical Center.  Poor patients, it seems, are not as welcome there as those with good insurance. 

Well, it would appear that the corrupt stench emanating from UCMC has finally reached the ample proboscis of Senator Charles Grassley. Per the Washington Post:

Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa on Friday sent the center a letter saying he was “troubled” by recent news reports about the hospital’s efforts to steer patients with non-urgent complaints away from the center’s emergency room to local clinics. Michelle Obama was a key figure behind the initiative.

In addition to wanting to know about the patient dumping, Grassley wants to know about that promotion and raise Michelle got after her husband was elected to the Senate:

In his letter, Grassley asked the center how it selected and set the salaries for two senior management positions: executive vice president and vice president of community and external relations. The current executive vice president is Eric Whitaker, a close friend of Obama’s. The current vice president of community and external relations is Obama’s wife, Michelle. She has been on leave from her job, which paid up to $317,000 a year, since January.

The University of Chicago Medical Center is obviously just another fiefdom for corrupt Illinois politicians. And it is increasingly obvious that the Obamas are typical products of Chicago politics as usuual.
