OBAMA’S MEDICARE WHOPPER

Barack Obama has added another whopper to the growing list of lies he tells about John McCain’s health care plans. He has now begun accusing McCain of wanting to cut Medicare benefits:

Senator McCain would pay for part of his plan by making drastic cuts in Medicare -$882 billion worth.

Thus, the candidate of “change” reverts to the perennial Democrat tactic of scaring old people.  And, naturally, it’s being parroted by the usual Obamatards. But even CBS couldn’t stomach this lie:

Senator Barack Obama’s newest claim (also made in a television ad) that Senator John McCain’s health care plan will cut $882 billion in Medicare health care benefits for seniors, has to rank among the biggest whoppers of the whole campaign.

CBS goes on to say:

It’s a poorly calculated estimate drawn from a suspect report, and the disputed figures in question don’t represent benefit cuts.

As any competent analyst will tell you, McCain plans to pay for his Medicare reforms by:

Ending the Medicare drug benefit for affluent seniors, reforming Medicare payments toward a disease management model and away from fee-for-service, adopting electronic health records and eliminating fraud.

Even if you question his math, there is no honest way to arrive at the conclusion that McCain plans to pay for his Medicare reforms with $882 billion worth of “cuts.”

But, then again, the candidate of “change” is not an honest man.
