During the primary season, all of the Obots kept telling us that Hillary Clinton was an evil, racist fear-monger who was unfit to serve. Now that she’s being considered for Secretary State, however, they have executed another of their trademark pirouettes.
The most vertigo-inducing reversal comes from Andrew Sullivan, who spent a year slandering Mrs. Clinton with a viciousness that created sympathy for her even among confirmed members of the VRWC. Now, he tells his befuddled readers that she is a brilliant choice:
I don’t think Clinton as secretary of state would be mere symbolism. And I think it’s a brilliant way to coopt her without in any way demeaning her.
This is truly Orwellian stuff. These people remind me of the Animal Farm characters who mindlessly swallow and repeat the self-contradictory propaganda fed to them by Squealer. Yesterday’s talking points are gone. Today’s meme is all that matters.
Aside from the weirdness of the Obot reaction to it, it would be a really dumb move on Obama’s part. As Bill Jempty points out, Hillary brings all the baggage to the SOS position that she would have lugged to the VP slot.
UPDATE:
The attempts by Obama’s people to manage some of Hillary’s baggage (i.e. Bill) are hilarious. Can these people really be dumb enough to think that the Clinton’s will live up to any agreement when the deal becomes inconvenient? I hope not. If they are this clueless, we’re in deep doo doo.
