STARK CONTEMPT FOR HEALTH INDUSTRY

If you want some insight into the mentality that will drive health care “reform” next year, I recommend Philip Klein’s recent piece at the American Spectator.

The sheer contempt that Pete Stark shows for the various stakeholders in the U.S. health care system is breathtaking. Here, for example, is what he says about doctors:

I have yet to see a physician come into my office talking anything about their patients — the first thing they say is that they are going broke.

And what does he say about the health insurance companies that have been frantically signalling that they are willing to compromise with the  righteous forces of “reform”?

They are the easiest to roll, because nobody likes insurance companies … Somebody has to be the bad guy.

And it goes without saying, of course, that Stark sneers at anyone who worries about the coercive power government will (and does) bring to the health care delivery system:

He was dismissive when asked about Republicans protesting the fact that since government is running the exchange, it could rig the rules of the game to steer more Americans into choosing the government plan.

All of the people who justifiably complained about Republican hubris haven’t seen anything yet. They’re about to get a demonstration if what it REALLY means to be drunk with power.
