The Obama administration, congressional Democrats and the “news” media have done their best to portray the townhall health care protesters as a mob of right-wing crazies. But the slander isn’t selling, according to a new USA Today/Gallup poll:
The raucous protests at congressional town hall meetings have succeeded in fueling opposition to proposed health care bills.
And which voters have been most affected?
Independents by 2-1, 35%-16%, say they are more sympathetic to the protesters now.
So, what’s going on here? Ed Morrissey has a theory:
Either indies have suddenly developed a taste for Nazi mobs of political terrorists or the Democrats’ message war on ObamaCare opponents is a rather epic fail.
How can this be? Can it really be that Obama and his people screwed this thing up? Camille Paglia thinks so:
Obama seems to be surrounded by juvenile tinhorns, bumbling mediocrities and crass bully boys.Case in point: the administration’s grotesque mishandling of healthcare reform.
Paglia goes on to say that the President is trying pull off a “colossal, brazen bait-and-switch operation.” And the voters aren’t quite as dumb as Obama thinks they are.
