MEDICARE AD SCARES OCARE ADVOCATES

You can always tell when a GOP ad is effective: it is vehemently denounced by all the usual suspects as a low trick even by the dubious standards of those dastardly Republicans. Here’s how Patrick Appel describes the latest ad  (video below) from Michael Steele:

It’s surreal witnessing how unprincipled the national GOP has become, opposing a sensible cut to Medicare Advantage.

Ah yes. The “sensible cuts” meme. The Democrat party line on this program is that it costs anywhere from 10% to 20% more than traditional Medicare. This is pure BS. The real number, as I point out in the American Thinker, is less than 3%, and that extra money goes to the beneficiaries.

And these seniors vote. If they believe the President and his congressional accomplices are going to pay for Obamacare by cutting Medicare Advantage, there will be hell to pay at the ballot box. This is why this GOP ad from Michael Steele scares our “progressive” friends so badly.

Seniors are already very suspicious of the Obama administration. However, as Hot Air points out, the Democrats are pretending that “old school racism” is the problem. This “racism” theme is going to sound particularly stupid to the seniors who see this ad:

I definitely have the impression Patrick Appel’s point didn’t focus on the “sensible cut meme,” but on the surreality of seeing GOP Chair Michael Steele on TV attacking democrats for wanting to cut Medicare, when republicans, including Steele himself, have been pushing cuts to Medicare for decades. (Didn’t McCain actually campaign on that idea?) Focusing on the word “sensible” in Patrick’s post seems like a disingenuous response to that larger point.

But let’s cut to the chase. In the view of an outspoken opponent of government-funded healthcare, is Medicare Advantage a good thing, or not?
