WHY AARP HEARTS OBAMACARE

It has long been obvious to many of us inside the health care industry that AARP is far less interested in the welfare of America’s seniors than in lining its own pockets.

This is why the organization has supported the destruction of Medicare Advantage, a program that is very popular with seniors. Here’s how AARP will clean up when MA goes down:

If Medicare Advantage funding is reduced, and seniors are forced out of the program, they become potential buyers of the heavily-promoted and very profitable Medicare Supplement program sponsored by AARP (MediGap is 70% of AARP’s annual income). Medicare Supplement is a huge source of revenue to AARP.

That pretty much sums it up. AARP supports Obamacare because, like the AMA, the SEIU, et al, it expects to make a lot of money from health care “reform.

UPDATE:

I love this AARP response to Philip Klein’s info request:

Any effort to derail AARP’s commitment to reform will not succeed.  Similar to “death panels” and other scare tactics, this latest effort is a misguided attempt to talk about anything other than the health care reform this country needs.

What weird combination of paranoia and DNC talking points. Sheesh.

Yep, if their primary income was MA instead of Med Sup, I bet their story would be much different. Oh, maybe 180 degrees.
