WILL THE DEMS DEFY THE PUBLIC ON REFORM?

Every public opinion survey for the past couple of months has shown declining public support for Obamacare. The more the voters hear about it, the less they like it. Here’s a recent analysis from Pollster.com:

And the latest survey from Rasmussen confirms that support is still going south:

Just 38% of voters now favor the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s the lowest level of support measured for the plan in nearly two dozen tracking polls conducted since June.

So, are the people who run the White House and Congress going to ignore the will of the people? Yep. What they call “health care reform” has never been about health or reform. It’s about money and power.

I doubt that they will allow a minor consideration like the consent of the governed to stand in their way.

UPDATE:

Ed Morrissey, in a post about Tim Pawlenty’s denunciation of Congress for ignoring the wishes of the public, applies a hoary yet apt metaphor to the Democrats:

They’re Nero to the economic Rome burning down all around them, fiddling with a health-care system that satisfies most Americans while watching more and more Americans lose their jobs.

Meanwhile, Dan Riehl points out that Joe Lieberman is still emulating Horatius, promising to filibuster any health care legislation that includes the public option.

And the beat goes on …
