Normally, the Democrats put their fingers to the wind of public opinion before they decide to do anything. In the case of health “reform,” however, they seem determined to defy the wishes of the electorate.
And the wishes of the public are pretty clear. The latest Fox-Opinion Dynamics poll shows that a clear majority do not want any part of the health care bills now being concocted by Congress:
A majority — 57 percent — oppose the health care reform legislation being considered right now. About a third of Americans — 34 percent — favor the reforms.
And it’s not just Fox, the CNN poll shows 61% opposed to Obamacare, Public Policy Polling shows 52% against it, as does Quinnipiac, which also shows a lot of disapproval for Obama’s handling of the issue:
Voters disapprove 52 - 38 percent of the health care reform proposal under consideration in Congress, and they disapprove 56 - 38 percent of President Obama’s handling of health care.
So, are the people who run the White House and Congress going to ignore the will of the people? It’s starting to look that way. It seems suicidal, but they are pushing hard to give the voters something we don’t want.
Hopefully, this kind of arrogance will cause a repeat of 1994.
