In the musical Annie, the ragged residents of ”Hooverville” sing a sardonic song called, ”We’d Like to Thank You Herbert Hoover.” Its occupants obviously blame the 31st president for their sorry plight:

Made us what we are today
Will we ever hear similar tunes about Barack Obama? One doubts it. But he does have his own tent cities. Outside of Colorado Springs, the residents of one such refuge hung the following sign:
Unemployment is at 10%, having hovered around 5% during the Bush years, but the President’s supporters in the blogosphere say it’s not his fault. They say the country is simply ungovernable.
They also make elaborate excuses for health care, Afghanistan, gay rights, and a variety of other issues on which he has disappointed them. Why do I doubt they would be so kind to a Republican?
