LINCOLN BLANCHES AT CORNHUSKER KICKBACK

The “Blue Dogs” are beginning to snap and growl at one another, although Senator Lincoln is probably just disappointed Nelson lapped up more of the gravy than she herself got:

The Democratic senator from Arkansas on Tuesday said she was disappointed about a provision in the Senate’s health care bill that will require the federal government to permanently pay the entire cost of Medicaid expansion in Nebraska.

Now that she’s back home with her constituents, she adopts a not-very-convincing pose of self-righteous indignation over such Beltway skulduggery:

“The people of Arkansas didn’t send me to Washington to be a horse trader,” Lincoln told reporters before speaking at a Kiwanis Club luncheon in downtown Little Rock.

Uh huh. But note that she isn’t prepared to say “no” to the wages of the tawdry equine exchange. When asked if she would refuse to vote for the bill, she was coy:

Lincoln did not say whether she would support a final version of the health care legislation if it included the Nebraska agreement.

She’ll vote for it alright. But this time she won’t give her vote as a present, as she did last Christmas Eve. Next time she’ll have her hand out for her share of the swag.
