PHONY AP STORY ON PHONY NEGOTIATIONS

For a case study in the kind of fraudulent coverage the establishment “news” media have provided on Obamacare, one could hardly do better than this piece of faux journalism from AP:

Congressional Democrats and President Barack Obama began work in earnest Tuesday on difficult issues still standing in the way of their national health care overhaul after months of tortuous debate.

Yes, indeed. It’ll be ”difficult” work alright.  Quite a Donnybrook, I’m sure, with all those obstructionist Republicans making trouble. Oops, I forgot. There won’t be any Republicans there:

Republicans aren’t invited, and they complained that the Democrats intended to deliberate behind closed doors - though lawmakers often do so in the final stages of such complex legislation.

This is, of course, a lie. Such exclusion is virtually unheard of for a major piece of legislation. But I’m sure the C-SPAN cameras will keep the Dems honest. Oops, I forgot. C-SPAN won’t be there either:

C-SPAN is taking note. The network released a letter Tuesday from chief executive Brian Lamb to congressional leaders asking for the talks to be opened to cameras.

This seems to have hurt the feelings of the Dems. And who can blame them for being hurt? I mean, these are the people who promised openness and transparency, remember?

Democrats reacted defensively to criticism that they are taking the final, most crucial stage of the debate behind closed doors … noting that hundreds of hearings and town hall meetings have been held.

Hmm … Would that be a reference to those meetings from which the Dems were frequently absent? Or is it a reference to the town hall meetings in which prominent Democrats insulted their constituents?

It is utterly amazing that any journalist can look himself in the mirror in the morning after reporting on this grotesque farce as if it were a legitimate exercise in representative democracy.
