A variety of health care special interests have, like the big labor unions, made sweet deals with the Dems in exchange for their support of “reform.” If Scott Brown becomes “the 41st vote” against Obamacare, they stand to lose a lot of money. Thus, they have been giving a lot of money to Brown’s opponent.
Tim Carney at the Washington Examiner has written a series of excellent articles on this topic and, perusing the list of names, one discovers a veritable who’s who of health care lobbyists. Here are a few of Coakley’s more prominent health-lobbyist donors, along with the names of their clients.
Martha Casey: McLean Hospital, Partners Healthcare
Harvey Cauthen: United Health, Merck, Roche
Sean D’Arcy: Hess, Pharmaceutical Marketing Group
James Fabiani: Bayer, Cempra, Planet Biotechnology
Patricia Rissler: AFLAC, CareSource
Thomas Boggs: Bristol-Myers Squibb
Chuck Brain: Amgen, BIO, Merck, PhRMA
Susan Brophy: Blue Cross, Pfizer

In addition to providing 18 good reasons to give Scott Brown that “41st vote” against Obamacare, this is a good list to keep in mind you hear President Obama and congressional Democrats talk about protecting us from the depredations of the “health care industrial complex.”
