THE DEMOCRATS ARE IN DENIAL ABOUT THEIR “MASSACHUSETTS PROBLEM”

The first step toward recovery from any addiction is, of course, admitting you have a problem. It doesn’t appear that the Democrats are ready to take that first step. Instead, they’re engaged in a finger-pointing exercise. Some are blaming the candidate:

Many angry Democrats blame their candidate, state Attorney General Martha Coakley, for running a sluggish campaign that let Republican Scott Brown set the contours of the race.

Some are blaming the White House:

We lost independents in Virginia, we lost independents in New Jersey and we’re losing independents in Massachusetts … The only thing those three states have in common is Obama.

But the White House is blaming the Senatorial Campaign Committee:

White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel has blamed Coakley, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Democratic pollster Celinda Lake for failing to see Brown’s surge in time to stop it.

And still others are blaming the DNC:

The Democratic National Committee, which spent at least $750,000 almost exclusively on get-out-the-vote efforts, has also faced criticism for not dispatching its resources early enough.

None of this deals with the real problem, of course, which is the Democrat addiction to the politics of corruption and personal destruction. They have long since forgotten how to play it straight, assuming they ever knew, and it’s catching up with them.

The Democrats ignored the warning signs in Virginia and New Jersey. Instead of listening to the clear message the voters were sending, these people merely stepped up their orgy of taxing, spending and shady deals with all manner of special interests.

The electorate has been screaming about this for at least six months, but Obama and his congressional accomplices have not been willing to listen. The Democrats have consistently ignored the will of the people and the people are mad as hell about it.

Another truism about facing one’s “problem” is that you have to hit bottom before reality sets in. That’s about to happen in Massachusetts, and it’s only the beginning. November will bring the heaviest dose of reality. Then, perhaps, the Dems will begin their recovery.

UPDATE:

As if to confirm that they have no intention of facing their “problem,” open warfare broke out this afternoon between the DNC and the Coakley camp. In fact, the Coakley people are now blaming the White House for their troubles:

The [Coakley] adviser, who cited internal polling numbers to make the case, emails that, ‘There’s more to the story than [Coakley’s poor campaign]. If Martha is guilty of taking the race for granted, so is the White House, and the DNC.’

This is nothing compared to what we’ll be hearing tomorrow. Hopefully, the Dems won’t see the error of their ways until after they get hammered in November.
