Old Roundheel Ben has taken yet another of his “principled” stands. This time he says he won’t vote for Obamacare if it includes a national insurance exchange, an alternative to the wildly unpopular public option which he says is (duh!) unnecessary:
The national exchange is unnecessary and I wouldn’t support something that would start us down the road of federal regulation of insurance and a single-payer plan.
I’ll bet the Harry Reid and the people at White House VERY worried about this latest threat. I can hear them now, “Stop it Ben, you’re killing us.” As Carrie Budoff Brown puts it:
If Senate Democrats still had 60 votes, this would matter a lot … Nelson’s threat to vote against any bill with a national exchange doesn’t mean much.
Like his “principled” stands EVER meant anything.
