It is becoming more and more obvious that the Democrats will indeed use the “nuclear option” to circumvent Senate filibuster rules and pass Obamacare. Utah Senator Orrin Hatch says this will destroy what little comity still exists inside the Beltway:
It is going to be outright war and it should be, because it would be such an abuse of the reconciliation rules … If they abuse those rules it is going to lead to even more heated animosities between not just the two parties, but even between individual senators.
Nonetheless, like Jon Kyl, he fully expects the Democrats to do it:
They haven’t acted in good faith on this, nor do I expect that they will … I expect them to go to reconciliation …
I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: If Reid, Pelosi and their accomplice in the White House are crazy enough to thumb their noses at an electorate that has repeatedly shouted ”STOP,” there will be a grim reckoning next November. The voters will party like it’s 1994.
