Just when we thought we had heard about all of the payoffs Ben Nelson received in exchange for his perfidious vote on the the Senate’s version of Obamacare, another sordid revelation bubbles up from the muck:
According to the Nebraska Democratic Committee’s latest FEC report, it received a contribution of $459,760.00 from the DNC.
The DNC is, of course, lying denying that the off-cycle money was was connected to his egregious flip-flop on the health “reform” bill:
We, the Democratic Party, were defending a Democratic senator from attacks from the health insurance industry and other special interests for his support of reform.
Uh huh …. right. The money was obviously part of the deal to get Nelson’s vote. He certainly told them that he would need it to stave off inevitable anger from his constituents.
And for anyone doubting this report, here’s a screen shot of the relevant FEC form. No wonder his constituents jeer and boo him when shows up in Nebraska restaurants.
The only upside to this is that the DNC was funneling money to Nelson for CYA ads while Martha Coakley was fighting for her political life up in Massachusetts. Sweet.
