WILL JUDD GREGG SELL OUT THE REPUBLICANS ON OBAMA’S PHONY REFORM SUMMIT?

The GOP has been (more or less) firm in its resolve to reject Obama’s phony call for bipartisanship, as manifested in his desire to hold a health reform summit on February 25. Which is why I have a bad feeling about this:

In a letter to Obama released late Tuesday, Gregg welcomed the meeting as a chance for ‘constructive dialogue’ and is promoting his own lower-cost approach focused on preventive care and guaranteed catastrophic coverage for all families.

Obama has no interest in a “constructive dialogue.” His “reach across the aisle” is an obvious set-up for the “party of no” campaign the Dems have planned for the midterms. As CBS’s Mark Knoller pointed out a couple of days ago:

Obama says bipartisanship, but what he wants is GOP surrender.

I guess Gregg hasn’t received enough headlines since he accepted then rejected the position (in O’s administration) of commerce secretary. So, maybe he’ll try to get some favorable media coverage by playing ball with Obama on “reform.”

Or perhaps there has been another back room deal that we don’t know about yet. Gregg is retiring from the Senate at the end of this year, so maybe Obama has offered him another high-profile position.

As I say, I have a bad feeling about this.
