As far as I know, JR, all Americans pay a payroll tax that partly finds Medicare.

I presume you’ll be opting out of Medicare, or maybe already have.

And these ‘poor and stupid’ – low income people still pay taxes and throughout working life people will be contributing even though they may have periods of unemployment. If you are talking about people with mental disadvantage who may not be able to work, what would you do with them?

Do you really believe “everyone pays in”? Ridiculous. Not everyone pays in now, why would it be any different with a new law. I don’t love Medicare. What an arrogant elitest mentality that suggests that there are those(the liberals) that think they should be the distributors of goods to the poor and stupid citizen.

Not at all – national insurance systems work because everyone pays in. You have a national insurance system you pay into too – it’s called Medicare and Americans love it.

It’s always interesting hearing from lefties like Mark. For some reason, they believe they are OWED something. If you want the security the government can give you, GO TO CANADA!! Why not rely on yourself for a change. Why should I have to pay for someone else’s’ healthcare?

Obama was quite clear that the reform goes ahead, and it was quite clear the GOP has no substance of its own, either major criticism or alternatives. You far rightists just hate the idea that ordinary Americans might just get the security everyone else in the West gets and that says all we need to know about your humanity.

Obama’s remark to Mccain just shows how arrogant, narcissistic, and completely out-of-touch this ‘president’ is. Mccain should have walked out.
Did you see the looks on some of the Republican’s faces? They hate him. This one person is bringing the country down to it’s knees.

And I think he loves every minute of it.

When this bill doesn’t pass, what a fool he will look like. And everything after that he tries to pass will go down the tubes also.

Keep up the good work Obama- how about an apology to Mccain? don’t hold your breath John.

I am utterly disgusted by the arrogance of this President Obama. How did we get this president? I am appalled at how he ignores the American people. I am appalled at his lack of judgment. Iran is trying to destroy the world, and all he can think about is how to change this country into a puppet of the Democratic Party by making the people more reliant on government. President Obama is the worst president that has ever existed.
