ROBERT BYRD’S SENATE SPEECH AGAINST THE USE OF RECONCILIATION FOR HEALTH REFORM

Democrat Senator Robert Byrd, author of the widely referenced “Byrd rule,” recently wrote in the Charleston Daily Mail that reconciliation could be used for Obamacare.

But as the following video (via Breitbart) shows, this was an Olympic-class flip-flop. In fact, he refused to countenance such a strategy when asked to do so on behalf of Hillarycare.

Here’s his speech in the well of the Senate saying that it was wrong because the people needed to know what was in the bill and that he could not in good conscience allow it:

President Clinton got on the phone and called me also and pressed me to allow his massive health care bill to be insulated by reconciliation’s protection … I could not, I would not and I did not allow that package to be handled in such a cavalier manner.

Meanwhile, the Obamacare road show continues, complete with human shields, and prominent Democrat Dick Durbin admits that premiums will continue to rise if Obamacare is passed.

So, it’s against the rules and won’t help. Remind me why we’re doing this again.
