One of the reasons the Dems are determined to ram Obamacare down an unwilling electorate’s throat is their belief that it will re-energize their base. But as Kimberly Strassel points out, the bill the Dems are trying to pass is VERY unpopular with the Democrat base, particularly the nutroots:
That base doesn’t want a health-care victory; it wants a public option.
And the public option is precisely what they’re not going to get. Here’s Nancy Pelosi saying just that yesterday:
We’re talking about something that’s not going to be in the legislation.
So, the President, Madam Speaker and Harry Reid are going to pass a “reform” bill that the general public hates and which will not generate turn-out among their core constituencies. I thought these people were supoosed to be smart.
