Matthews hits a theme that several NBC commentators have focused on: How can you demand an up or down vote on reconciliation (in the Senate) and then “deem” the bill passed in the House without voting on it?
Matthews does not, of course, object to such skulduggery because it is dishonest. He’s worried about how it will play in Peoria. And well he should be. If they go with Slaughter, it will be Armageddon in November:
