Among the consolation prizes Obama and Pelosi can promise House Dems who lose their seats due to a “yes” vote on Obamacare is a cushy job running some federal agency. Senator Tom Coburn had a warning for such people today:
If you voted ‘no’ and you vote ‘yes,’ and you lose your election, and you think any nomination to a federal position isn’t going to be held in the Senate, I’ve got news for you. It’s going to be held.
And he added that he and his Republican colleagues will be watching for the telltale signs of special deals and will make sure that the voters know precisely who sold their vote and for how much:
If you get a deal … we will associate that with the buying of your vote … be prepared to defend selling your vote in the House.
He doesn’t sound like he’s bluffing to me:
