If you still harbor doubts that the public hates Obamacare, the latest survey from Pew (hardly a hive of Tea Party types) should extinguish them. Echoing all the serious polls, it shows 48% to 38% against:
This is where the public has been since early last Fall. So, why do Obama, congressional Democrats and the establishment “news” media ignore such consistent public disfavor?
A succinct answer to this question can be found in Thomas Sowell’s new book, Intellectuals and Society, where he explains the attitude of soi-disant elites toward the public as follows:
Defying the ‘public clamor’ has become a badge of honor and a certification as a member of the anointed. Angry outcries from the masses are not treated as warning to be heeded, but as further evidence of one’s own superior insight, shared by other ‘thinking people.’
In other words, the very fact that the public is against Obamacare is one of their primary motivations for pushing it. The disapproval of the knuckle-draggers confirms their moral and intellectual superiority.
This need to feel superior to us knuckle-draggers out here in flyover country is the only consistent feature of contemporary progressivism. Their positions change with the wind but their self-regard is constant.
They will revel in the inevitable public outrage that will greet passage of this abomination. And massive losses in November will merely validate their “courage.”

I noticed you’ve been less strident on that point lately. Does this mean you think they acknowledge that might actually be able to ram this abomination through?
