BLAGO’S LAWYERS WANT TO SUBPOENA OBAMA

This ought to be good. At a time when the President’s brand is down and the Democrats in general are regarded with contempt by the voters, the White House will not be enthusiastic about headlines connecting this troll to Obama:

Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s lawyers asked a federal judge today to force President Obama to testify at Blagojevich’s upcoming corruption trial, asserting that Obama played more of a role in the process of selecting someone to replace him in the U.S. Senate than Obama has acknowledged.

Could that possibly be true? Well …

According their court filing, Blago’s defense lawyers believe Obama did, in fact, intervene in the Senatorial selection process. He apparently wanted his old friend Valerie Jarrett for the seat:

Blagojevich’s lawyers said FBI interviews with the unnamed labor union official and also with an unnamed labor union president show Obama did try to intervene on Jarrett’s behalf.

So, what’s the big deal? It’s the Chicago way, right? Well, it turns out that this doesn’t match the statements president-elect Obama made to investigators shortly following his 2008 election victory:

The court filing cites statements the unnamed labor official made to the FBI as part of its criminal investigation of the since-ousted governor. The statements by the union official to the FBI … differ from Obama’s recollection of events regarding Jarrett.

Maybe it will all hinge in the meaning of “is.”
