This is, of course, why the President and his congressional accomplices are begging young voters to actually show up at the polls for once. When Granny becomes angry, bad things happen on election day:
Democrats have glimpsed their biggest threat this fall, and she is Grandma … they’ve seen the polling data on senior citizens, and it’s ugly.
Granny is none too pleased that Obamacare is being “paid for” with big cuts in traditional Medicare benefits and the gutting of Medicare Advantage. This discontent translates into the following ominous numbers:
Only 36 percent of likely voters who were 65 and older approved of the health care legislation … That was the lowest approval rating of any voter age group.
And unlike the mythical youth vote, the geezer vote is all too real. While young voters show up at the polls in consistently anemic numbers, Granny and her friends WILL be there on November 2:
Seniors are far more likely to vote in nonpresidential elections than young voters are. In the latest Gallup tracking poll, 41 percent of seniors were “very enthusiastic” about voting this year, nearly twice as high as registered voters younger than 30.
Democrats know this, of course, which is why they are also trying to scare the bejabbers out of African-Americans and other minority voters with preposterous stories about “racist” Tea Partiers and imaginary racial slurs.
They’re hoping the race card, combined with the fabled “youth vote,” will get enough of their voters to the polls to offset the seething geezers. We’ll see if young and minority voters will fall for this tactic yet again.
If these Dem voters actually do show up in November, they’ll have to elbow the seniors out of the way to get at the voting booth. And they had better be careful. Granny’s not in the mood to take any guff.
