What an irresponsible ass! Never mind that there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that the bomber was “homegrown.” Never mind that Islamist jihadis have already taken credit for it. Prompted by the ridiculous Katie Couric for the party line, Bloomberg obliges as follows:
If I had to guess, twenty five cents, this would be exactly that … Homegrown maybe a mentally deranged person or someone with a political agenda that doesn’t like the health care bill or something.

Meanwhile, even as Bloomberg was braying, a suspect named Faisal Shahzad was being apprehended as he attempted to leave the country for the Middle East:

This guy had just returned from a five-month sojourn in Pakistan. Sound like a “homegrown” Tea Party type to you? Me neither. I’m betting this wasn’t about Obamacare.

Unless the mayor hasn’t noticed lately that he’s missing a couple of skyscrapers, I had to think he was remarking in a tongue-in-cheek manner, spoofing Janet Napolitano’s remarks early in the Obama administration about the homegrown terror threat being more a matter of disgruntled right wingers than of the fanatical followers of radical Islam that we’ve been at war with (yes, Mr. President, it’s a war) for the better part of the past ten years. I have to hope this is what really happened - remember who the mayor was speaking to when he said this.
