One reason thoughtful people worry about government-run health care involves the propensity of the state to abuse its access to medical information. The recent parliamentary election in the UK provides a textbook case:
Labour used personal data to send cancer patients alarmist post suggesting their lives could be at risk if a Conservative government is voted into power.
For all intents and purposes, the party in power sent death threats to voters. And this was no random mailing. Labour sent their alarmist postcards only to woman who had received treatment for similar illnesses:
Among those who received them were two women in Sherwood. They were the only two to have undergone treatment in a group of eight female friends and the only two to receive the cards.
How would you feel if you were undergoing cancer treatment and received a postcared from the Obama adminsitration warning you that a vote for the GOP would endanger your health? One recipient of Labour’s slimy cards put it thus:
Janet Arslan, 40, a graphic designer from Sherwood, Nottingham, said that when she received the card, she had initially thought it came from the hospital … ‘I did not think Labour would be that crass to deliberately target a terminal cancer patient like me.’
But they WERE that crass. And if you think such things can’t happen here, consider the behavior of the Democrats during the Obamacare battles. These people will use whatever they have, and they increasingly have your medical information.
