For a case study in just how clueless and out of touch the dinosaurs of the old media really are, I recommend this idiotic piece in Newsweek on the Tea Party movement:
The free ride they get from much of the media is epitomized by CNN’s item on radio-talk-show host Mark Williams giving up his role as the chairman of the Tea Party Express.
That’s right. The geniuses at the superannutated weekly regard the unremitting slander to which the MSM has subjected the Tea Partiers as a “free ride.” What do they think causes this softball coverage?
Unfortunately, what appear to be false notions of objectivity—or perhaps a lack of interest in policy—is preventing that coverage from illuminating what the movement actually represents and what it would do if empowered.
No. I am not making this up. The authors of this article actually believe the MSM is trying too hard to be OBJECTIVE. If this piece didn’t defy parody, I would have suspected it of being from the Onion:
Isn’t it time that we stopped treating the Tea Partiers like a curious sociological phenomenon and starting holding them to the same standards we should hold all mainstream politicians to?
Excellent idea! I’m sure the Tea Party movement would appreciate the kind of tongue bath that the fossils of the old media routinely give Barack Obama and other members of the current regime.
