Clinton calls Byrd’s membership in the KKK “a fleeting association,” but Byrd joined in 1942 and was still openly supportive of the Klan in the late 1950s. Moreover, he filibustered the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
The hypocrisy of the Democrats and the “news” media on Byrd is breathtaking. Contrast the Byrd whitewash with the treatment Rand Paul received a few weeks back for saying he believes in private property.
