UNEMPLOYMENT RECORD: GOP VS. DEMS

For a true sense of which party is better on the economy and unemployment, I recommend the following chart. For any progressives who might be reading this, unemployment is kinda like golf—-you want the number to be low:

The GOP was the majority party in the House from 1995 through 2006 (pink). Democrats have had control since January of 2007 (blue). And, as Doug Powers points out, Senate control follows (more or less) the same pattern.

The secret to getting unemployment down from the 10% range would seem to be giving the Democrats the bum’s rush.

    I don’t think anyone is fooled by this. It’s ridiculous to suggest the Republicans weren’t in charge during the crash and that it was in fact Bush who initiated the bailout.
