Marco Rubio, who once seemed like a long shot candidate for Florida’s open Senate seat, has won the GOP nomination:
When GOP hopeful Marco Rubio entered the race for the U.S. Senate, most political observers gave him zero chance of knocking off then-GOP incumbent governor Charlie Crist. But voters overwhelmingly selected Rubio to be the GOP nominee on Tuesday.
And a new PPP poll shows Rubio leading both his opponents:
PPP finds he would begin the general election in the lead at 40%, followed by Charlie Crist at 32%, and Meek at 17%.
