JIMMY CARTER ATTACKS TED KENNEDY FOR BLOCKING HIS HEALTH REFORM PLAN

Yes, the most incompetent occupant of the White House prior to Obama our esteemed former President has attacked the late Senator in a “60 Minutes” interview. He claims that HE would have enacted comperhensive health care reform were it not for Kennedy’s obstructionism:

The fact is that we would have had comprehensive health care now, had it not been for Ted Kennedy’s deliberately blocking the legislation that I proposed … It was his fault. Ted Kennedy killed the bill.

I was but a youth in those far off days, and I can’t say I remember much about the health reform debate. Nonetheless, the breach between those two losers statesmen seems to have involved what we call the “public option”:

The 1979 fight centered around the implementation of a public insurance plan. Kennedy, according to an account by Time magazine, favored a government insurance program that would have been quickly implemented, while Carter favored a similar plan that would have been phased in.

Assuming that Carter isn’t merely having another of his “senior moments,” I have to say that Kennedy did the country a lot of good if his disdain for Jimma postponed the government takeover of health care for three decades.

Good job Ted!
