Well, it turns out that the illiteracy of progressives isn’t limited to the dismal science. Apparently, they are also unable to retain the history they learned in the 5th grade.

Sarah Palin, who was out in Nevada with the Tea Party Express, admonished conservatives not to celebrate victory before actually winning the midterm elections:

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told hundreds of supporters Monday they couldn’t ‘party like it’s 1773′ until Washington was flooded with like-minded conservatives.

Learning of this speech, a variety of left-leaning luminaries, like Markos Moulitsas and Gwen Ifill, had a big time sneering about what they obviously thought was a gaffe:

But they were, once again, demonstrating the well-documented progressive gift for unintentional irony. As you know (and they don’t), the Boston Tea Party took place in 1773.

I think Palin deliberately punked them. She knew many of them wouldn’t get the “party like it’s 1773″ allusion, and that they’d be tweeting and blogging their empty heads off.

And, not coincidentally, it will now be harder for these people to write about how dumb SHE is. A great storyboard of the Palin punking method can be found here.

Sarah Palin plays the left-wing media like a concert pianist. She has them figured out. The ding-dongs keep walking right into her traps. They are just too arrogant to learn anything…like Obama.
