Most people, even those given to the sin of pride, have enough sense to heed blindingly obvious signs that they are about to make a colossal blunder. Some, however, are so imbued with hubris that they simply can’t imagine being wrong.
The latter failing, as Milton Wolf points out in the Washington Times, is a quality shared by our President and the late Edward Smith. Who was Edward Smith? He was the Captain of that famously unsinkable ship, the Titanic:
When the estimable Capt. Smith was alerted to the dangers that lay ahead, he proceeded, undeterred, full steam ahead. His new ship, the Titanic, could not be sunk.
Enter Captain Obama:
A hundred years later, those piloting the USS Obamacare are discovering their own rough waters and the devastating ruling in the multistate lawsuit is just one of the icebergs they face.
Other icebergs include the recently passed repeal bill, testimony by Medicare’s chief actuary that ObamaCare’s two main selling points were lies, the scorn of doctors and the fact that the public still hates the program:
A recent Gallup poll reveals that just 13 percent of Americans approve of Obamacare as it is written - 13 percent. There are more people who believe Elvis is still alive.
And yet Captain Obama shouts “full steam ahead!” No wonder so many of his crew are heading for the lifeboats after only two years. And well they should. There’s a good chance this ship is headed for Davy Jones’ locker.
