In this interview with Newsmax, Newt Gingrich warned that the President’s decision to arbitrarily suspend the Defense of Marriage law could create a constitutional crisis.

The idea that we now have ‘The Rule of Obama’ instead of the rule of law should frighten everybody. [It is] a very dangerous precedent.

He went on to say that Judge Roger Vinson’s recent ruling is grounds for the House to cut off all funds for ObamaCare, which would make it a federal crime to implement the law:

    Why is it you folks always have to go to personal attacks rather than debate the question. Do you or do you not feel that it is OK for the president to arbitrarily ignore the law in the case of DOMA or ignore a judges order in the case of Obama-Care?

    Whether it’s an insult or not, it’s irrelevant to the issue. It is an attempt to discredit the argument by being critical of the source, while ignoring the issue at hand. It is argumentum ad hominem.

    We see a lot of that from the left, and some from the right (though not nearly as much). I have no source for that assertion, it is my own opinion/observation, and may be anecdotal.
