It could hardly be more obvious that the President and his Democrat accomplices have dropped a twenty megaton bomb on Medicare. ObamaCare strips $500 billion from the program and effectively kills its most popular iteration—Medicare Advantage. Why? Milton Wolf provides the answer in his latest Washington Times column:
The president’s intentions are chillingly clear: ‘I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care program. … That’s what I’d like to see.’ Obamacare is a major step in that direction.
So, how does wrecking Medicare move us in that direction? Well, first you’ve got to get rid of all those health care providers who want to practice medicine according to their Hippocratic Oath and the individual needs of the patients:
Dispirited doctors are already fleeing the program in droves - and medicine altogether - leaving behind helpless patients.
And don’t forget hospitals. Medicare already pays your community hospital less than it costs to treat patients. And I mean less than COST, not charges. So, what is the reaction of the President and his minions? Cut payments even more.
Chase more doctors away with an additional 30 percent cut in reimbursement next year, and then watch from the bleachers as Americans are turned into medical refugees desperate for any salvation.
And what salvation will Obama offer? Think about the health care system most admired by Donald Berwick, the President’s administrator of Medicare and Medicaid Services. Berwick, quite literally, “loves” Britain’s third-world socialized medical system.
